Leading independent law firm Brabners has partnered with Lancaster-based rugby club, Vale of Lune RUFC, by sponsoring the team’s away shirts for the next two seasons.
The sponsorship will see the Brabners logo displayed on the first team’s away shirt as well as an advertising board at Vale of Lune’s ground. Brabners will also be the club’s match sponsor for the home match against Douglas (Isle of Man) on February 28.
Vale of Lune RUFC was founded in 1900 and has been playing at its current Powder House Lane ground since 1905. Its key successes include two Lancashire Cup victories in 1986 and 1992. The men’s team compete in the North West Regional Division 2, the sixth tier of the rugby union system.
The club has an emphasis on junior teams, which includes dedicated girls’ teams as well as a ladies’ team. It also works with initiatives including This Girl Can, a National Lottery-funded initiative to help women from all backgrounds get active, as well as SOS Kit Aid, which helps distribute second-hand and unused kits to less advantaged communities around the world.
The sponsorship has been organised by Brett Cooper, Lancashire-based partner in Brabners’ corporate team, who joined the firm earlier this year. Brett plays for the club’s third team and also coaches the club’s under 9s boys’ team, which his son plays for.
Brett said: “Since joining Brabners, it’s been clear there is a real passion to invest in the communities that we support through our legal expertise. Vale of Lune is a true community club, which has been giving both adults and young people a place to be active, socialise, meet new people and support good causes for decades.
“This investment will not only support Vale’s continued growth in the Lancaster community and ensure it helps more adults and young people in the years to come, but it will also give the Brabners brand additional profile right across the North West area where the first team play.”
Brabners has over 550 colleagues in offices near Preston in Lancashire, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds. Its mission is to make the difference for its clients, people and the communities it serves.
The firm provides legal services for multinational businesses and global brands to social enterprises and ambitious SMEs, as well as families, high net worth individuals, senior professionals, athletes and celebrities.
Daniel Rainford, director of rugby, Vale of Lune said: “Partnering with companies which are passionate about supporting community organisations is vital to the survival and growth of clubs like Vale of Lune. We thank Brabners for their support and are excited to see our fantastic new kit all over the North West in the seasons ahead.
