Marina Litvinenko will be the special guest when the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce stages its forthcoming ‘Women in Business’ lunch.
Mrs Litvinenko is the widow of Alex Litvinenko, the former Russian FSB secret service officer who died in mysterious circumstances in November 2006.
Having pursued a vigorous campaign to establish the truth behind her late husband’s death, she won the right to a public inquiry in 2014.
That period could not have been more different to the life she left behind in Russia as a ballroom dancer and, by her own description, someone who wasn’t a political animal at all.
Now in business in her own right, Mrs Litvinenko will give fascinating insights into how women’s strength can help them succeed, whatever the challenge.
“Mrs Litvinenko’s presence is a real coup for the event given her amazing life story,” said Babs Murphy, the Chamber’s Chief Executive.
“She is someone who is a real role model for the commitment and patience she has shown in facing what seemed to be insurmountable odds.
“I’m sure the people who attend will find what she has to say both interesting and informative; it promises to be a fascinating day.”
The lunch will be held at the Best Western Hotel, Leyland Way, Preston, on Wednesday, May 11.
The event will begin with the serving of tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival from 9.15am for a 9.30am start.
Networking opportunities will also be available while a three-course lunch will also be served.
Bookings can still be made with the price as follows: £50 plus VAT for Chamber members; £55 plus VAT for affiliate members; and £65 plus VAT for non-members.
