Following high demand and to meet the needs of local visitor economy sector, West Lancashire College are delighted to re-introduce two new Hospitality and Catering courses, starting in September 2025, and are looking for employers within the industry to collaborate with them to help shape the future workforce!
The college would love to hear from restaurants and food establishments who would like to support them with any one or more of the following:
• Reviewing and endorsing course content to ensure it is fit for current and future industry needs.
• Offering work experience opportunities for their students.
• Offering industry visits to their organisation so students can see first-hand the workings of a professional kitchen.
• Visiting the college to deliver a guest talk.
Future students will study in the newly refurbished, industry standard kitchens at the college, which contain the latest equipment and technologies. Students will also deliver front of house duties in the onsite restaurant, The Works.
In readiness for the re-launch, the college has invested £200k+ refurbishing their training kitchen (funded by the Local Skills Improvement Fund) which now boasts all electric facilities including 6 induction cookers, 6 salamanders, a deep fat fryer and a pizza oven, as well a blast chiller, tabletop food mixers, convection ovens and a multifunctional rational oven. In addition, the kitchen has been fitted with the latest fire suppression system designed to detect, control, and extinguish fires.
If you are a local restaurant who would like to get involved in helping shape the future workforce of our Catering & Hospitality industry or would like a visit to the college to view the new facilities and find out more, the college would welcome a chat with you.
