Saturday’s traditional ‘Easter showers’ could not dampen the spirits as Preston Business Improvement District (BID) staged another hugely successful Easter Lancashire Market.
Held on Friargate, it was a day for all the family to attend with outdoor games, birds of prey, reptiles and live music among the attractions on offer.
Central to the event, however, was a range of producers who showcased the best of what the county has to offer.
Traders and local businesses contributed to an animated atmosphere which emphasised the market’s position as a great addition to Preston city centre’s offer.
“We’ve had a lot of great feedback, from city centre businesses, traders and the visitors,” said Preston BID manager, Mark Whittle.

“According to our footfall peak measures, it proved to be one of the best trading days of the year so far, with a steady flow of visitors despite some less than wonderful weather during late afternoon.”
One of those traders who reported a profitable day’s work was Wendy Harrison from Café Fresch, based in St. George’s Shopping Centre, who traded at the Lancashire Market:
“It was a very successful day for our sales and our interaction with the public,” she said.
“We were able to drive trade to the shop and we were also able to service some of the other traders.
“Thanks to the organisers and everyone who turned up – we’re already looking forward to the next Lancashire Market in July.”
