Fylde Rugby’s Woodlands Memorial Ground will be the next stop as the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce celebrates its centenary year.
The Chamber will be the match sponsor on Saturday when Fylde entertain Blaydon in division one of the SSE National League.
Fylde, who are presently in mid-table, are looking to bounce back from a 26-24 defeat at promotion hopefuls Esher last Saturday.
Although Blaydon are at the wrong end of the table, they go into Saturday’s game on the back of an impressive 35-7 win over Hull Ionians.
The two sides have already met this season with Fylde losing 34-17 last November.
Among the Chamber’s guest list will be representatives from its centenary patrons, Moore and Smalley and RBS.
“Fylde is a club close to our hearts as we have worked with them in the past, most notably when we were appointed as auditors in 2013” said Graham Gordon from Moore and Smalley.
“We always take a keen interest in our local sporting organisations and, through our auditing work, we could see the progress and good work being done by the club.”
Stephen Ford from RBS added: “Although we’re known for our sponsorship of the Six Nations, grassroots sport is something about which anyone with an interest in sport should take an interest.
“Clubs like Fylde aren’t just about winning at senior level, they are also about providing opportunities for youngsters and that’s something we wholeheartedly endorse.”
The match will be the first of four sponsorship packages the Chamber has with local sports clubs over the course of its centenary year.
Next up is an engagement at Preston Grasshoppers next month, followed by events at Preston North End and Blackpool in April.
“It’s a momentous year for the Chamber and we’re delighted to be able to share it with our local sports clubs,” said Babs Murphy, the Chamber’s chief executive.
“As far as local rugby goes, Fylde, as well as Preston Grasshoppers, is one of the iconic clubs renowned for the players they have produced.
“We wish Paul (Arnold, Fylde’s head coach) and his players the best of luck, not just on Saturday but the rest of the season ahead.”
