The UK’s National Infrastructure Commission has published its annual monitoring report on government progress towards major infrastructure priorities.
Some progress has been made in rolling out gigabit broadband, increasing renewable electricity generation and in implementing further devolution. But the UK government is off track in a range of other areas.
The report recommends 10 specific focus areas including:
- progressing the integrated rail plan;
- significantly increasing the pace of energy efficiency improvements in homes;
- faster roll-out of electric vehicle charge points; and
- rapidly putting in place plans to reduce per person water consumption.
