The House of Commons International Trade Select Committee has launched an enquiry into UK accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). This is due to be finalised by the end of 2022. The deadline for submissions is Friday 2 September. If you have content for inclusion in our submission please contact William Bain.

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is due to launch a campaign this autumn on enhancing preference take-up by SMEs of new or priority free trade agreements. This follows representations made by the BCC. The first five agreements to be in this campaign will be – Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Japan and Singapore

New processes will apply to the movement of goods from GB to the EU from 1 March 2023. Firms sending, handling, shipping and transporting cargo, express or postal consignments to or via EU by air will have to comply with new data reporting requirements for pre-loading and pre-arrival customs risk assessments. The first round of trade negotiations with the Gulf Co-operation Council are due to get underway in the next few weeks. The BCC had an update from the Chief UK Negotiator this week. This is alongside continuing negotiations with India, Canada, Mexico as well as forthcoming negotiations with Switzerland and Israel.
