The North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce is celebrating St George’s Day by sponsoring a business lunch on Friday.
It is part of the annual St George’s Day Charity Festival in Lytham, which aims to raise money for three chosen charities; soldiers’ charity ABF; Trinity Hospice; and Love Lowther.
This year’s festival also includes a St George’s Parade, a black tie gala dinner, business breakfast, tea dance, golf tournament, comedy night and a family funday.
Babs Murphy, the Chamber’s Chief Executive, said: “The St George’s Day lunch is always a highlight of the social calendar and this year promises much of the same.
“It’s an opportunity for people to relax and enjoy each other’s company while, at the same time, raising much needed funds for charity.”
Those present at Lytham Green will have a five-course lunch as well as the opportunity to bid for some of the packages on offer in a live auction.
Among the Chamber’s guests will be representatives from their centenary patrons, Moore and Smalley and RBS.
“We have thoroughly enjoyed our participation in the Chamber’s centenary celebration events so far and Friday promises to be no exception,” said Stephen Ford from RBS.
“It also helps to highlight Lytham and the Fylde Coast to the rest of the UK, showing the best of what there is to offer.”
“We’re looking forward to Friday immensely especially as it helps to support such excellent charities,” added Mike Hardaker from Moore and Smalley.
“Fylde is a developing area and events such as this will only help to spread its name further.”
The lunch is the latest in a line of events the Chamber has lined up to commemorate its centenary year with Friday evening also seeing them sponsor Preston North End’s home match against Burnley.
A House of Commons reception and a proclamation, procession and church service have already taken place, while further events to come include next month’s centenary black tie business dinner, Armed Forces Day in June and the BIBAs awards night in September.
