Preston is set to come alive with colour, light, and celebration as the city formally launches its brand new “Canopy of Colour” installation, on Thursday 30th April from 6:30pm along Fishergate.
Residents and visitors alike are warmly invited to attend the event, marking the unveiling of the largest spring and summer aerial installations in the UK.
Stretching an impressive 700 metres, the installation will feature over 300 spring-like decorative elements suspended above the street, enhanced by warm, ambient lighting to create a vibrant and immersive experience in the heart of the city.
This ambitious project, a first of its kind for Preston, promises to transform Fishergate into a dazzling destination throughout the season.
The launch event will feature a host of special guests, including the Mayor of Preston, alongside popular local personalities, the SpudBros, who shared their enthusiasm:
“We’re absolutely buzzing that something this big is happening right here in Preston. It’s going to look incredible, and we can’t wait to be there. We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone come down and rock up for what’s going to be a brilliant night.”
Adding to the excitement, the city’s very own Street Monkeys parkour and stunt team will deliver high energy entertainment, while celebrated Preston florist Margaret Mason will play a special role in the opening ceremony as she marks her 90th birthday.
The evening will be hosted by radio royalty John Gillmore will also feature members of the business community.
The Canopy of Colour launch promises to be a memorable evening for the whole community, an opportunity to celebrate creativity and sustainability.
