A BCC Planning Skills Fund has been set up to help resolve the problem by boosting planning skills and resources in local councils across the UK.
This practical initiative demonstrates how Chambers are leading the way in unlocking local growth and opportunity.
The Fund aims to raise £3 million to train and place the next generation of town planners at local authorities where they are needed most.
Partners Aviva has already donated the first £500,000, but more businesses are needed to donate whatever they can.
Every £15,000 donation funds a new planner who will be supported to work in a local planning authority, helping to reduce planning delays.
The fund will also pay for existing council town planners to upskill to better meet the needs of your members. Your local authorities can apply to bring these new skills to your area.
