BBC Radio Lancashire are putting the finishing touches to their big fundraising challenge for this year’s BBC Children in Need appeal.
You might have heard the big reveal on Friday 20th October, when we announced that our breakfast show presenter, Graham, is embarking on an epic journey around Lancashire, joining forces with Guinness World Record holder and BBC Radio Lancashire afternoon presenter John “Gilly” Gillmore for ten days of gruelling fundraising, pedalling the “Pudsey Mobile” around the streets of Lancashire.
There’s a very good reason why people like Graham and Gilly put themselves through the wringer for Pudsey Bear…put simply, it’s to raise money to allow BBC Children in Need to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. In the last year alone, we’ve been able to help change the lives of almost half a million such children right across the country – with plenty of projects right here in Lancashire benefitting from grants and help. But for all they do, there is so much more to do…more children who need help and support. That’s why they want to make this year’s effort a record breaker…and we’d love you to help us make that happen.
The challenge takes place as follows…the launch is on Friday 10th November, when Graham and Gilly will be travelling from Lancaster to Morecambe…Saturday will see us hold some family “Pedal With Pudsey” events, one in Morecambe and one in Preston…then, the challenge begins again on Monday 13th November, when the lads travel around the Preston area…Tuesday 14th it’s Leyland and Chorley…Wednesday 15th is Blackburn, Accrington and Burnley…Thursday 16th sees tired legs in Barrowford, Padiham and surrounding areas…and the Finale on Friday 17th brings Graham and Gilly to the Fylde coast, from Lytham to Blackpool’s Comedy Carpet where, hopefully, we’ll be lighting up Blackpool Tower ahead of the big night on TV.
You won’t need reminding how vital the work of BBC Children in Need is, in supporting projects across the UK. One of the great things is that money raised in a region stays in that region…and Graham and Gilly want to make this year’s fundraiser a record breaker. With that in mind, they are appealing for your help…would YOU consider holding a fundraising event, whip round or collection, to raise money for Pudsey Bear?
