The Community Foundation for Lancashire has launched an appeal fund to help county residents who were victims of Storm Desmond.
The effects of last weekend’s weather made headlines all around the world with a large number of residents evacuated as floods devastated communities.
The Recovery Fund’s Appeal will raise funds to directly support individuals and families already struggling and vital community organisations and resident groups in the areas affected by Storm Desmond.
“Community Foundation for Lancashire started the Appeal by making a £5,000 donation from its own Lancashire Community Investment Fund,” said a spokesman.
“Within the first 24 hours we received hundreds of pounds from local people donating £5 upwards with the help of the Lancashire Evening Post newspaper group.
“Lancaster Council also agreed to dedicate £10,000 from their Lancaster Community Fund which brought the total secured within the first 24 hours to over £15,000.”
Donations are being received publicly and anonymously online via https://mydonate.bt.com/events/lancsfloodappeal or alternatively you can text an amount and LFLD15 to 70070 to give via text.
