More than half of the UK’s job losses have come from the hospitality sector, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS)
Lancashire’s leisure and hospitality sector is one of the largest in the UK with resorts like Blackpool relying on thousands of jobs throughout the summer season.
UKHospitality, which has around 750 members and represents more than 123,000 venues, said the sector accounted for 53% of all job losses in the UK.
One of the main reasons for higher-than-expected job losses is employers now paying higher NI contributions, as well as the continuing cost of living issues, meaning there is less disposable income, lowering profits for the leisure industry.
