Preston Docks are to be turned in to a water sports arena as more than 500 people take part in the Chamber of Commerce Centenary Dragon Boat Challenge.
The event, staged by the NWL Chamber of Commerce to celebrate their centenary year, will see teams of employees from across the county battle it out to be crowned the champion.
Competitors will take to the water to paddle their boats across the docks from 10am until 3.45pm, when the medal ceremony will take place.
The ‘competitor’s village’ will be set up by the swing bridge and members of the public are invited to come and enjoy the race spectacle on Sunday 5th June.  There will be a number of attractions for families and spectators and refreshments will be available.
Babs Murphy, Chief Executive of the NWL Chamber of Commerce said: “We have enjoyed a packed programme of events so far this year to celebrate the Chamber’s Centenary, and the Dragon Boat Challenge is yet another that will be very special.
“We first took part in the event back in 2012, and from then on, the Chamber has organised an annual competition for companies to come together and battle it out on the water.
“This year, we have the highest number of competitors to date, which will see hundreds of racers take to the water to be crowned the Centenary Challenge champion.
“We hope families and the general public will join us on the 5th June to cheer the teams on.”
