The future of Local Government Reorganisation will affect businesses across Lancashire – Hosted by Mike Stevens, renowned BBC broadcaster.
The Chamber is committed to ensuring that local government restructuring reflects the needs and priorities of our communities and the business sector.
There is currently a lack of clarity surrounding the proposed models of governance for the county. This important meeting aims to make sense of the proposals. The potential options range from establishing a single unitary authority covering the entire region to creating multiple unitary authorities—possibly up to five.
Whatever model is ultimately adopted, it will have a significant impact on the local business community, shaping economic development, service delivery, and strategic planning for years to come.
The Chamber will provide an overview of the various models, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages, followed by a panel debate comprising leaders from district councils, unitary authorities, and the upper-tier authority. They will present their current perspectives and preferred options.
This is a valuable opportunity to gain insights, ask questions, and understand the potential implications for the Lancashire business community. We strongly encourage your attendance and active participation in this vital discussion.
Refreshments and a light breakfast will be included. Breakfast is served from 7.30am with the event commencing at 8.00am.
