Cumbria firm Harrison Drury has been named in an influential annual guide to the UK’s top legal firms and solicitors for the third year running.
The firm has placed in the prestigious Legal 500 publication for five of its specialisms – commercial property, commercial litigation, property litigation, corporate and commercial law, and insolvency and corporate recovery.
And for commercial property, commercial litigation, and property litigation, Harrison Drury has also seen a rise in the rankings by moving up the Legal 500’s tier system.
Helen Griffin, from the firm’s commercial litigation team, has been named as a ‘Rising Star’ to watch, while Malcolm Ireland is cited as a ‘Leading Individual’ for licensing. Malcolm joined Harrison Drury as head of Leisure and Licensing in June 2021.
The Legal 500 has acted as a guide to clients on the best law firms, lawyers, solicitors and barristers in over 150 jurisdictions around the world for over three decades.
To be included, firms undergo rigorous analysis which includes interviews and feedback from clients and professional peers which is reviewed by a panel of experts.
John Chesworth, executive chairman at Harrison Drury, said: “This is the third year overall we’ve been listed in the Legal 500 and the second year running in which five of our specialisms have been included.
“It’s a huge achievement to make the Legal 500 and it’s arguably a bigger triumph to stay there and rise up the rankings because you have to demonstrate the quality of your advice and outcomes for clients continues improving.
“The Legal 500 is increasingly something that clients ask us about because it demonstrates you achieve results and that your legal knowledge and experience has made that success possible.”
In Harrison Drury’s Legal 500 listing, the firm’s commercial litigation team was described as being “a very hardworking team that will leave no stone unturned to help their clients”.
The commercial property team is described as “very knowledgeable, skilled and attentive” and is noted for “communicating excellently, especially during the pandemic”.
The corporate and commercial team is recognised for its work with clients on acquisitions, joint ventures and investments, corporate governance issues and commercial agreements, and is particularly noted for its work with family businesses and on law firm mergers.
The firm’s listing for its insolvency and corporate recovery work praises the team for its support for clients and describes head of service James Robbins as a “very helpful and capable” dual qualified solicitor and insolvency practitioner.
Harrison Drury’s property litigation team receives recognition for “always going the extra mile” and “working tirelessly for clients” as well as for its “responsive and proactive” approach.
