Make 2018 the year that your business stands out

Media consultant David Helliwell, of Helliwell Media, is urging Lancashire firms to make 2018 a year to stand out…

“Resolutions for the new year are not just about setting personal goals such as losing weight, exercising more or being a kinder person, admirable goals though they all are.  Taking a little time to focus on what you’re going to do differently, or better, in your business can be a huge benefit.

“That can be a hundred different things, but typically it may be around some of the ‘softer’ areas of business that can get pushed to one side, such as improving communication.  Maybe that means internally, or raising your profile and focusing on getting a strong, fresh message out to potential customers.”

David will be running a series of one-day training workshops with the chamber in the New Year starting with a Masterclass in Media Relations on January 24.

He added: “One of the best conversations I had in 2017 was with the managing director of a diverse group of companies who didn’t see the value in promoting their services and products through the media.

“Their exact words were ‘who would be interested in reading about us’. Fortunately, I was able to prove there was interest in their activities and they’ve since seen a direct rise in sales because of the publicity they’ve received.”

The North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce has a varied programme of good quality training and support available throughout the year.

Training manager Andrew Hamilton said: “It is amazing to me how easy, yet important it is to utilise the media in raising an orgranisation’s profile. This is why we are running a course which will help develop our members in this area of communication, and I can think of no one more qualified to present this course than David Helliwell!”

Helliwell Media is kicking off the new year with a special offer for NWL Chamber members of a free one-hour media advisory session to help ensure your mainstream or social media presence is fit for 2018.

There’s also a 10% discount on all Public Relations and 15% off any bespoke company training, such as preparing for media interviews and crisis communications, booked by February 28.
