POLICY ACTIVITY

North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce

is one of the most powerful lobbying forces in Lancashire. Our remit is simple: to represent the views of our members in order to bring about effective change within the regulative and legislative framework in which business operates.

We produce an annual Business Barometer survey to determine our local lobbying activity and also rely on an virtual membership panel to provide a quick response to issues as they arise (click here to become a member of the panel)

To support and strengthen our lobbying work we work very closely with other Chambers of Commerce across the Northwest. We are an integral part of the Chambers of Commerce Northwest policy group which lobbies on behalf of the 17 Chambers of Commerce (representing 16000 members) across the region.

Any policy priorities that could be managed from a regional perspective are brought to the policy group for inclusion in the annual work programme. As part of this work programme the group has researched and published a number of comprehensive reports covering transport, skills, migrant workers, and red tape. The group also published an annual “Wages and Salaries” report which provides information on pay and conditions across the Northwest.

As part of our involvement with Chambers of Commerce Northwest we coordinate two important regional events each year: an annual visit to the House of Commons to meet MPs and civil servants; and a Question Time event to provide members with an opportunity to raise issues with senior politicians and business leaders.
