Members views requested on Right to Train Policy
24/08/10 The Government is consulting on the future of the right to request time to train policy.
The Government is now reconsidering the future of the Right to Train policy, not just whether to extend it to all businesses next year, but also whether to scrap it completely.
It would be helpful if members could indicate their views on the following:
1. Should the right be repealed?
2. Should the right be retained only for large organisations?
3. Should the right be extended as planned?
4. If retained for large organisations or extended, could it be modified to be less burdensome for those employers who already train?

The Equality Act 2010

The new Equality Act due to come in force on 1st October 2010 harmonises and replaces previous legislation in this field, including the Race Relations Act 1976, the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. The aim of this new legislation is to ensure consistency across all aspects of employment to make workplaces a fair environment and to comply with the law.
